Interned as a Chips Quinn scholar for a 55,000 circulation Gannett Company daily newspaper, averaging four assignments a day. One of five scholars to win the 2004 Chips Achievement Prize. Won several monthly clip contest awards from the Wisconsin News Photographers Association. Researched and provided original content for entire special section on the city of Menasha.

June 2003 – September 2003

Averaged four assignments a day working for the five versions of the ex-Knight Ridder owned Daily News; Palo Alto, San Mateo, Redwood City, Burlingame, and Los Gatos (total circulation 60,000). Received an Honorable Mention in the General News Photo category at the 2004 Peninsula Press Club Awards.
